IRA LEVIN (1929 - 2007)

Was born in New York in 1929, spent two years at Drake University and finally graduated from New York University.

His first novel, "A Kiss Before Dying", was published in 1953. It won him the Edgar Allan Poe Award of the Mystery Writers of America and was successfully filmed as was also "Rosemary's Baby", published in 1967. His third novel was "This Perfect Day", 1970. Then followed "The Stepford Wives", 1972 and "The Boys from Brazil", 1976, both made into movies.

He has written several successful plays such as "No Time for Sergeants", 1955, "Critic's Choice", 1960, "Veronica's Room", 1973, and "Deathtrap", staged on Broadway 1978. Ira Levin has also written numerous television and film scripts.
